FSMO Roles using NTDSUtil from CMD

 open command prompt as administrator on server

To list options:

c:\Windows\system32>ntdsutil
ntdsutil: roles
fsmo maintenance:     (to show help)

To list the FSMO roles:

c:\Windows\system32>ntdsutil
ntdsutil: roles
fsmo maintenance: connection
server connections: connect to server servername
server connections: q
fsmo maintenance: select operation target
select operation target: list roles for connected server

or use:

c:\Windows\system32> netdom /query fsmo

To exit use the q:

select operation target: q
fsmo maintenance: q
ntdsutil: q

To transfer PDC role:

c:\Windows\system32>ntdsutil
ntdsutil: roles
fsmo maintenance: connection
server connections: connect to server servername
server connections: q
fsmo maintenance: transfer pdc
